More about the role

The Burson Brussels Corporate & Public Affairs team is looking for an enthusiastic intern for a 6-month internship, starting in August 2026.

You will be part of an integrated team of advocacy and communication professionals and support account teams in developing and delivering innovative public affairs and communications strategies for international clients. During the internship, you will research, monitor and analyse key EU policy trends, regulatory changes and media developments on a wide range of topics.

As an integral part of client teams, you will help execute tailored policy communications campaigns allowing you to gain first-hand experience in EU public affairs and consulting. This will entail engaging relevant stakeholders, attending and organising events and conferences, as well as drafting content for different communications channels.

By working closely with an experienced and dynamic team, you will not only develop in-depth expertise and skills on different topics but also build a network that will be invaluable to your career in public affairs and communications.

Your responsibilities

  • Through research and monitoring policy developments and media conversations, distil insights to support your teams’ and clients’ knowledge
  • Develop stakeholder mappings and assist client teams in engagement with policymakers, media and other stakeholders
  • Support in the development of communication materials for different channels
  • Support client teams in developing strategic and tailored advice for clients from different sectors
  • Follow events and identify impact for clients
  • Contribute to client brainstorms, put forward ideas and suggestions

Experience that contributes to your success

  • Knowledge of and a keen interest in media, geopolitics, and EU affairs
  • Understanding of the media and digital communications ecosystem
  • An open, flexible, additive attitude
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrable organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to new tasks and deadlines
  • Proactive, resourceful and a strong team player
  • Critical thinking with a desire to learn in a fast-paced and international environment
  • Familiarity with AI tools
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Other European languages are a plus.
  • Further education in a relevant field, such as but not limited to EU or international politics, law, communications, etc
  • Previous public affairs exposure within an EU institution, media outlet, regulatory organisation, trade association, advocacy organisation (NGO), company or consultancy is desirable but not essential

What we offer

  • A 6-month internship from August 2026 to February 2027 under Convention d'Immersion Professionnelle (CIP). Please note that the CIP agreement excludes any internships for which the intern receives academic credit or undertakes as a part of a degree. To be eligible for a CIP convention, candidates must have the right to work full-time in Belgium.
